“The Alley — to the Heart”

The path was narrow and constricted. The building was old but maintained. The stairs were no more stairs but were encroached by mosses. Making it’s way, it moved forward. The atmosphere’s essence was hijacked by petrichor but strangely the main ingredient was not the soil but, the salt. It tried to take a look around but the sight came back with extreme tiredness and dismay. The walls were old but strong for which it symbolized, the strong foundations. Cactus was all around to keep the entities away, may be, it thought. The dusty glassed windows had perfectly aligned curtains for blocking the inside view. To it’s utmost surprise, there was a ray of light, too dim, too gloomy. Out of curiosity, it took the pace. Following the light, it stumbled over something, making it’s heart, skip a beat. There was something that stopped it’s motion. Upon looking down, it found the broken crayons. “Why are these supposed to be her?” it asked itself.

Uncertainties grew further as it moved till it reached an alley. This one was too narrow from the previous one. it stopped and wondered why is that so. What made it shook its head was, there were already present some entities like it, before. “How could it not get a slightest clue of their presence too?” it thought. Bragging of it’s popularity, it wanted to enter first. But what’s that, it couldn’t even enter the alley. With an evil smile, “Reality” pushed it aside and made it way through. “How could it even it make the way when it was too big and scary to see?” a thought approached. While it was in the trap of strangeness, “Disappointment leading the sorrows” crushed it under their enormous bodies. It’s delicate feathers were badly quelled. The pride was still inside of it that urged it to make one more move. Getting up, it took the direction of the narrow alley.

It’s small fragile body was not allowed to enter despite of all the struggle leaving it badly injured. “How could LOVE be stopped to enter anywhere, isn’t is a disgrace for it?” asked itself in anger. “But wait, how dumb I am to come this far without even knowing which alley is this” it cursed itself. Only then it asked the other entities who in return mocked it. “This alley leads to the heart, who’s now, no longer longing for you” replied the reality. “Go away! you already teared it” said the sorrows, bluntly. it was standing in the no man’s area in sheer shock. “You are nothing but an absolute disgrace”, this time it was the disappointment and LOVE felt a slap on it’s face. Unable to figure out why it was being treated this way, it wanted to make one last move. As it moved forward, an wounded body with dripping blood and tired face showed up. That was the “Heart”.

Without even wasting a moment it spoke in a gloomy voice. “I don’t want to have a shadow of yours even, you brought me nothing but worries and sorrows. You put me where I doubted myself. You made me long for the one who was never mine. You made me think that I’m worthless”. With the widely opened eyes, in absolute shock, Love stood there listening the blames. Heart burst into the tears while saying “I lost myself running after you and you left me mercilessly”. The already bruised love couldn’t help itself standing and fell over the cactus. Reality and disappointment came to rescue the heart and sorrows played its role by further manipulating the facts.

Mustering up its courage, Love stood on its feet and started speaking in its defense tiredly while bleeding. “My dear, why did you only find me in another person? Why did you limitize my existence there? I was supposed to be found on the top of the mountain, in the heart of the ocean, in seasons, in breezes and even in the food you eat. I was to be supposed to be found in the laughter of a baby or in the flowers being hold by a newly wed couple. Why you didn’t find me in the panda who’s eating bamboo? Why you didn’t meet me in the portrait of a painter or a teddy bear on display at the toy shop? Am I so worthless to be found in the hollow words and gestures of another heart like you? Am I so common to be found where your morality dies? It went on and the heart was still a cold. Rest of the entities were heavily disturbed but dared not to speak.

No, my friend, it went on after a small tired pause, “Where you tried to find me, had the least chances of my occurrence”. “You thought you found love? No, you didn’t” it reminded the heart. “That could merely be an attraction or anything but not Love” it chewed it’s words in anger, leaving the heart and others somewhere where they couldn’t even find themselves.

“But love knew it will still be blamed for it’s undone acts and rarely would it be found, the real itself. While going back, those broken crayons were still there and love sighed upon seeing them. Those were actually the hopes that were taken for granted and the blame was still on Love’s head. That salty petrichor was nothing but the tears that heart shed in ILLUSION“.
